So I know I said I was done with college apps and stuff, but there’s actually quite a bit on my plate coming up in the next few weeks.  It looks a little something like this:
2/16 – Andy McKee performs at the Triple Door (I’m going, of course!  This man is the reason I started acoustic guitar)

2/18 – PLU Guitar Festival (One of the schools I got accepted into)

2/19 – Leave Seattle for Chicago (Visiting NWU)

2/24 – Leave Chicago for Boston (Visiting MIT and Tufts)

2/26 – Return home for PLU Music Audition

3/2 – Music Audition at WWU

3/9 – Performance for Okinawan Kenjin-kai New Year’s Celebration (I’ve actually performed here annually for the past 2 years, this will be my 3rd performance!)

So yeah, that’s like, a Thanksgiving breakfast, lunch, and dinner x2?  I was hoping to get Ano Natsu de Matteru out before then but I’m not sure I will be able to.  I’ll have to think of something to keep things active.

Hey everyone! Sorry I’m going to be late with my next video again!  However I can tell you that I am working on my next project. It took me a couple hours on Friday to write this all out from scratch. The rhythms are very interesting, I love the syncopation. F Phrygian is also a very nice key.

I found this isn’t as “guitar-friendly” as I had hoped.  I arranged just the first few measures in the MIDI file below that you can preview for yourself.  The feeling of the constant eighth note rhythms in the accompaniment with syncopated melodic rhythms really thrown off when they’re put on a single instrument.  It almost sounds like some Bluegrass tune, and I really don’t like it.

If I do do the OP, I’ll have to change the accompaniment around.  It will be a very interesting arrangement and I can’t guarantee it’d do any justice to the original.  I’ve already gotten through the first half of the ED, but just the melody like I did for the OP.  They’re both very beautiful pieces.

Okay, now, DON’T GET EXCITED because I’m about to tell you my plans.  I say don’t get excited, because whenever I tell people I’m going to do something (on YouTube) I end up not getting it done!  But since this is my blog, I’ll let you in on my secrets ^^.

I plan on doing a few more anime covers this season, including Ano Natsu de Matteru and something from Daily Lives of Highschool Boys (or Nichibros, for short).  Those are the only two I am seriously considering doing.  The rest are on the backburner for various reasons, but others I might consider doing are Symphogear OP, either ED or OP from Moretsu Pirates, and (MAYBE) the ED for Listen to Me, Girls, I’m Your Father!.

If you’re reading this, I’m really sorry I haven’t posted in a while, once again.  Had to do a recording audition for one of my colleges, and I also had school finals and two SAT subject tests recently, so there’s been a lot going on.  I’m trying to get back on track with my videos, and I have been trying to arrange the OP for Nisemonogatari, however during my most recent practice session, something terrible happened…

Yeah.. so, my fingerpicks broke.  And I’ve vowed to never touch my steel strings without them, because I simply cannot risk breaking/weakening my natural nails if I wish to continue pursuing classical guitar.  I’ll have to see if I can go get a new one tomorrow, and possibly some spares along with it.

Hey everyone!  I decided to redo this one because I found a lot of mistakes in my technique in my previous version of this song!  I watched an interview/short lesson with Andy McKee that demonstrated the ‘correct’ technique he uses in his version and I tried to adapt my cover to fit his more, because I simply love the tone and feel of the original.  You can find that tutorial here:

Anyways, I hope you enjoy!  I also had some ‘fun’ playing with audio.  I actually created about 9 different versions of the audio I recorded because I wanted to start to working on perfecting my sound, to make it as realistic and pleasing as possible.  And to make absolute sure that it would turn out the way I wanted to, I uploaded each of these practice runs to YouTube (I think you can imagine how long THAT took T_T).  I think I’m starting to get closer, and this is much better than how my Amagami SS+ OP turned out.  I’m actually happy with these results.  I hope you enjoy as well!

OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS!  I’m finally done with all my college apps.  I’m sorry I haven’t been updating lately but that’s why!  Anyways I’m so excited to start playing for you guys again, thanks for being so patient with me!

Anyways, have you seen this anime?  I love this one ^^.  The new season is interesting, but of course, it’s much too short.  I feel like Ayatsuji’s arc didn’t really add much if anything to character development/plot, but it was really cute to see her and Tachibana again.  A good series so far, but I’ll have to wait and see more ^^.
